A person who chooses a study profile when entering a university or decides to change his profession should consider which professions are in demand on the labor market, what depends on the possibility of employment, career prospects, and income level.

The labor market is constantly changing, largely under the influence of automation and digitization of work processes. The Covid-19 pandemic has further accelerated this process, changing the priority of industries. According to a report by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, as industries grow, so does the demand for the professions and professionals employed in those industries. Let’s consider the most popular professions in 2022 based on employment growth trends in Ukraine and around the world.

Employment trends in 2022

Enterprises were able to adapt to new conditions and continue their activities largely thanks to the introduction of new approaches:

automation of work processes started even before the pandemic;
development of flexibility skills, known as soft skills, regarding work formats, organization of employees’ workplaces.
Currently, companies massively use a hybrid work format that combines office and remote work modes. This requires the implementation and maintenance of a reliable technological infrastructure. The introduction of innovative digital technologies in companies accelerated the digital transformation of educational processes, communications, and personnel management.

Most of the most popular and highly paid professions in 2022 are related to the development of technologies. Global digital transformation, automation in most industries have created a great demand for specialties in the IT field, which, according to statistics, will only grow. Areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, programming, data analytics, and cyber security will become leaders in the labor market in the near and long-term future. Professions in the field of health care, trade, finance, digital marketing, logistics, construction, mechanical engineering will also, as before, be in demand in Ukraine and around the world.
